David “He who started the ball rolling”

So Ummm, in a shocking twist I’m not David. I know little about his first steps into games or his mystical quest. But I can pretend.

Many years ago, when dragons coveted the world for themselves, a mighty force of men and women armed themselves for war to repel their grasping advances. Many times did they do battle until the forces of man were sorely depleted. As they prepared for the final battle in the car park of the local Sainburys, a battle to dictate the fate of all, a young child was found beneath a discarded carrier bag. Clutched within his blooded hand was a pound token for a trolley. Not a real pound as all money had been lost to time, fueling the armaments of war. Plus who gives a pound to a baby? They would just lose it or swallow it.

Okay its a lot harder to come up with a story on the fly, plus it’s eating into my evening.

So in a nutshell David was the founder of Table Top Riot. Having worked in the local gaming store and seeing the lists of new and old games crossing the counter he wanted to give it a go. After all, it can’t be that hard to create something lasting.

Having known David for a number of years, (he was in WARPS too incidentally), and knowing of his intentions to set up his own business, I would pitch ideas at him to help the creative process. Obviously these where all largely garbage but as they say; “If you throw enough mud at a wall some of it sticks”. Eventually I wore down his resistance to my terrible ideas and he began to humor me, eventually offering to take me on in this small business venture.

There will be more added to this at some point once I get him to give me a blurb for himself. Or if I get fed up of waiting and craft some Tolkenian masterpiece in its place.
